We are almost out of time: SA signs treaty to advance marine conservation at 2025 UN Ocean Conference – but global momentum is still lacking
Healthy marine ecosystems, especially coral reefs, act as carbon sponges – significantly reducing carbon in the atmosphere and therefore combatting the climate crisis beyond the borders of the sea. Establishing more MPAs could be a make-or-break factor in avoiding further climate catastrophe and turning the tide of the climate crisis.
